Research

Researchers at Mayo Clinic are advancing the understanding and treatment of Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia through an integrated program of laboratory, translational and clinical research. Areas of investigation include tumor biology, immune regulation, the bone marrow microenvironment, genetic drivers of disease, novel drug development and patient outcomes. Mayo investigators lead and participate in clinical trials evaluating emerging therapies, while laboratory scientists develop innovative diagnostic and prognostic tools to better characterize disease behavior and treatment response. Together, these efforts aim to accelerate the delivery of more effective, personalized approaches for patients with Waldenstrom macroglobulinemia.

Cancer research is conducted in coordination with Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center. Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center receives funding from the National Cancer Institute and is designated as a comprehensive cancer center. This designation recognizes the institution's scientific excellence and multispecialty resources focused on cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
