Research

Mayo Clinic researchers work to advance the care of people with complex congenital heart diseases, including those with Shone syndrome.

Areas of research include congenital cardiology, heart imaging and congenital heart surgery. Mayo Clinic researchers study how congenital heart conditions affect people over time. They investigate how newer imaging methods can better diagnose and monitor congenital heart defects throughout life.

Congenital cardiac surgeons also study how to make surgery and heart valve repair work better. They look for ways to improve lifelong care for children and adults born with heart disease.
