Damon Houghton, M.D., MSc, is a specialist with training in Hematology and Vascular Medicine. His clinical focus includes:

  • Expertise in the management of venous thromboembolism (pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis, venous thrombosis at other sites).
  • Counseling and risk assessment in inherited and acquired clotting disorders ("thrombophilia").
  • Complex anticoagulation (blood thinner) and anti-platelet medication decisions.
  • Diagnosis and management of vascular disorders (peripheral edema, peripheral arterial disease, vasospastic disorders, vascular compression syndromes).
  • Multidisciplinary management of vascular malformations and coagulopathies.

In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Houghton is active in research with an interest in risk factors for venous thrombosis, advanced imaging techniques, cancer-associated thrombosis, and anticoagulation.
