Biographical summary
David G. Deckey, M.D., is an Orthopaedic Surgeon with sub-specialty training in adult hip, knee, and shoulder reconstruction (replacements). He is also an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.
Dr. Deckey is an Arizona native and grew up in Yuma. He attended Brown University for his undergraduate studies and obtained his medical degree in Boston, from Tufts University School of Medicine. He then completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Mayo Clinic in Arizona. From there he traveled to North Carolina to complete a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction at Duke University. He also completed additional sub-specialty training in shoulder arthroplasty at Duke University and Mayo Clinic in Rochester. His clinical practice focuses on:
- Total and Partial Knee Replacements
- Hip Replacement — Posterior and Direct Anterior Approaches
- Shoulder Replacement — Anatomic and Reverse
- Revision (re-do) Hip, Knee, and Shoulder Replacements
In addition to his clinical interests, he is actively involved in research on improving patient outcomes after surgery, integrating technology and surgery, and optimizing outpatient surgery. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, mountain biking, hiking, traveling, and photography.
