Pavalan Selvam, M.D., is a senior associate consultant in the department of Clinical Genomics at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL.

Dr. Selvam grew up in Chennai, a coastal city in Tamil Nadu. He completed medical school at Stanley Medical College in Chennai and subsequently trained in Medical Genetics at Christian Medical College, Vellore. After moving to the United States, he worked at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine and later at the National Cancer Institute as a Clinical Genomic Scientist before completing his combined residency training in Pediatrics and Medical Genetics at the University of Utah.

His clinical interests include RASopathies, vascular malformations, disorders of the epigenetic machinery, and the evaluation of patients with undiagnosed rare disorders. He especially enjoys deep phenotyping and integrating with genomic data and exploring targeted treatment options when feasible. Outside of medicine, Dr. Selvam is a birdwatcher and enjoys bird and wildlife photography.
