Nitin Mishra, M.B.B.S., M.P.H., is a board-certified colon and rectal surgeon at Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona. He specializes in diagnosis and surgical treatment of colorectal conditions, with expertise in colon cancer, rectal cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, anal fistula, and rectal prolapse. Dr. Mishra provides advanced colorectal surgical care with a particular focus on minimally invasive approaches to complex colorectal conditions.

His surgical expertise includes laparoscopic and robotic colorectal surgery, colon and rectal cancer surgery, and other complex colorectal procedures. His clinical interests include the surgical management of locally advanced rectal cancer, including intraoperative radiation treatment, as well as the treatment of both malignant and benign colorectal diseases. He has particular expertise in robotic surgery for colorectal cancer and rectal prolapse.

Dr. Mishra combines specialized surgical expertise with an evidence-based, patient-centered approach to care. He has been recognized for excellence in both clinical practice and education, including receiving the Program Director Recognition Award from Mayo Clinic School of Graduate Medical Education and being named a Top Doc in Colon/Rectal Surgery by Phoenix Magazine. Throughout his career, he has also received awards recognizing his contributions to clinical teaching and surgical education.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Mishra is actively involved in medical education, outcomes research, and colorectal cancer care at the institutional, state, and national levels. He serves as Senior Associate Dean for Graduate Medical Education at Mayo Clinic in Arizona and has held national leadership responsibilities within the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). His professional leadership has also included roles with Mayo Clinic, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Mishra is nationally recognized for his work in cancer care and has served for the past six years as Chair for the State of Arizona for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (ACS CoC). Through his leadership and advisory roles in colorectal cancer care, graduate medical education, surgical education, and clinical practice, he remains committed to advancing the quality of colorectal surgery and preparing the next generation of surgeons.
