Kunle I. Elegbede, M.D., Ph.D.

Kunle Elegbede, M.D., Ph.D., is a board-certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. He is comprehensively trained in cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgery from head to toe, with specialized expertise in microsurgery.

Patients from throughout Florida and across the United States seek Dr. Elegbede's expertise for complex reconstructive procedures, including breast reconstruction and lymphedema surgery. He has particular expertise in DIEP flap and PAP flap procedures for breast reconstruction, as well as microsurgical reconstruction for a wide range of complex conditions. He offers advanced treatment options including lymph node transfer and lymphovenous bypass surgery for the treatment of lymphedema.

Dr. Elegbede's approach to care is centered on understanding each patient's individual concerns and goals. He partners with patients to develop personalized treatment plans designed to achieve optimal long-term functional and aesthetic outcomes.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Elegbede is actively engaged in research focused on improving outcomes and enhancing quality of life for patients undergoing plastic and reconstructive surgery.

Originally from Nigeria, Dr. Elegbede earned his bachelor's degree in pharmacy from the University of Lagos. He completed a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at North Dakota State University and earned his medical degree from the Cleveland Clinic College of Medicine. He then completed a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital, and a fellowship in Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Elegbede enjoys traveling and spending time with his wife and their two sons.
