Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service works in many ways to enhance the quality of emergency medical services and to make communities safer. Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service training and education classes provide high-quality, reasonably priced training to emergency personnel and community partners.
Emergency medical services (EMS) courses are led by paramedics and emergency medical technicians who work in the emergency medicine field. Their expertise makes Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service education practical, credible and valuable.
Courses are conducted at our training centers or off-site locations. Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service is licensed by the Minnesota Emergency Medical Services Regulatory Board (EMSRB) as an EMS training institution and by the American Heart Association, also called AHA, as a training center. Courses
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) — Basic: The training foundation for all ambulance personnel. Upon successful completion, students are eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) written and practical examinations to earn NREMT certification.
- EMT Refresher: For people currently certified as EMTs or whose registration has lapsed within the past year.
- Emergency Medical Responder: For law enforcement officials, firefighters, industrial workers and others who may respond to medical or trauma emergencies. Participants who complete the 40-hour class receive certificates from the EMSRB.
- Emergency Medical Responder Refresher: For people who are current emergency medical responders or whose registration has lapsed within the past year.

Course offerings include:
- Basic Life Support: Developed for medical professionals and lay rescuers, this class covers CPR and choking procedures for infants, children and adults; two-rescuer CPR; and mouth-to-mask ventilation.
AHA Training Center
Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service is proud to be a local American Heart Association Training Center. The training center is a key component of the AHA training network. The training center provides support to advanced cardiovascular life support, basic life support and pediatric advanced life support training courses held in the area. Training centers play a vital role in helping the AHA achieve its mission efficiently and effectively. The training network established by the training center strengthens the "chain of survival" in every community.

Mayo Clinic's emergency communications is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems and the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services, the industry's most-respected stamp of approval for all aspects of ambulance service safety and quality.
