1. A Study Looking at the Impact of Gabriel House of Care (a Hospital Hospitality House, HHH) on the Quality of Life and Mood of Liver Transplant Patients

   Jacksonville, Fla.

   The aim of this study is to measure the differences in quality of life and mood of liver transplant recipients in the immediate month post- transplant staying at the Gabriel House of Care staying at a hotel, apartment or rental property. 

2. Obesity Treatment Outcomes in Liver Transplant Recipients

   Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   The purpose of this study is to prospectively evaluate the safety and effectiveness of standard of care, individualized, comprehensive weight loss interventions in carefully selected patients with obesity undergoing liver transplant evaluation, including utilization of best lifestyle modifications and guidance to promote a healthy weight, possible medical therapy using FDA-approved weight loss medications and EBMTs with or without concomitant medical therapy.

3. A Pilot Study Examining Thiamine Deficiency in Patients Admitted to the Hospital for Liver Transplantation

   Jacksonville, Fla.

   The purpose of this study is to report the proportion of thiamine deficiency (as defined by the Mayo Clinic Laboratory reference range) in liver transplant patients.

4. A Study of Immune Cell Abnormalities Found in Individual Patients who have Type 1 Diabetes and are Waiting for Pancreas or Pancreas/Kidney Transplant Surgery

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to measure and characterize specific immune cell abnormalities found in patients who have type 1 diabetes and may or may not be on the waiting list for either a pancreas alone or a pancreas and kidney transplant.

5. Rituximab With or Without Stem Cell Transplant in Treating Patients With Minimal Residual Disease-Negative Mantle Cell Lymphoma in First Complete Remission

   Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla.

   This randomized phase III trial studies rituximab after stem cell transplant and to see how well it works compared with rituximab alone in treating patients with in minimal residual disease-negative mantle cell lymphoma in first complete remission. Monoclonal antibodies, such as rituximab, may interfere with the ability of cancer cells to grow and spread. Giving chemotherapy before a stem cell transplant helps kill any cancer cells that are in the body and helps make room in the patient's bone marrow for new blood-forming cells (stem cells) to grow. After treatment, stem cells are collected from the patient's blood and stored. More chemotherapy is then given to prepare the bone marrow for the stem cell transplant. The stem cells are then returned to the patient to replace the blood-forming cells that were destroyed by the chemotherapy. Giving rituximab with or without stem cell transplant may work better in treating patients with mantle cell lymphoma.

6. A Study of In Vitro Mapping of Cardiac Tissue Obtained from Patients with Refractory Arrhythmias who Underwent Heart Transplant or Replacement with Mechanical Heart

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to obtain electro-anatomic maps of human myocardium in sinus rhythm and ventricular arrhythmias to identify activation patterns, identify and perform tissue ablation at targeted sites of interest that could play an important trigger for development of arrhythmias, and to perform histologic analysis of the myocardial tissue to identify triggers and/or targets for therapies to terminate ventricular arrhythmias.

7. APOL1 Long-term Kidney Transplantation Outcomes Network (APOLLO)

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to attempt to improve outcomes after kidney transplantation and to improve the safety of living kidney donation based upon variation in the apolipoprotein L1 gene (APOL1). Genes control what is inherited from a family, such as eye color or blood type. Variation in APOL1 can cause kidney disease. African Americans, Afro-Caribbeans, Hispanic Blacks, and Africans are more likely to have the APOL1 gene variants that cause kidney disease. APOLLO will test DNA from kidney donors and recipients of kidney transplants for APOL1 to determine effects on kidney transplant-related outcomes.

8. Vancomycin for Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis

   Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   The purpose of this study is to to assess the effects of different Oral Vancomycin (OV) doses on the clinical and biochemical course in adult patients with Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC).

9. Lost Wages Support for Living Organ Donors Demonstration Project

   Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   The purpose of this study will be to evaluate the effect of the US Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) program to reimburse lost wages on the decision of individuals to initiate evaluation for living organ donation.

10. A Study to Evaluate the Effect of Inspiratory Muscle Training on Physiological Function and Clinical Outcomes Following Lung Transplant

    The purpose of this study is to to mechanistically investigate the effect of specific inspiratory muscle training on respiratory function, exercise capacity, health-related quality-of-life, and short-term clinical outcomes in patients after lung transplant.
