Amy E. Rabatin, M.D.

  1. Pediatric Physiatrist

Amy Rabatin, M.D., is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics and an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. She is a specialist in the Children's Center of the Rochester, Minnesota location where she is committed to promoting health and wellness for children with and without disabilities. She developed the "Adaptive Athlete Multidisciplinary Clinic" designed to provide comprehensive services to the local and regional community with physical disability, to promote and support health, wellness, and athletic interests. She was integral in the development of the "Pediatric Traumatic Brain Injury Clinic," a cooperative clinic with the Pediatric PM&R and the Brain Injury Clinic to better support patient recovery. In Dr. Rabatin's clinical practice, she focuses on:

  • Children with prosthetics/orthotics
  • Pediatric Sports Medicine
  • Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine
  • Ultrasound-guided botulinum and phenol injections

Dr. Rabatin is not only actively involved in seeing patients, but she also is a great mentor in the PM&R Resident and Fellowship program. She continuously works to educate the newest physiatrists by providing at-the-bedside training, real-time feedback, and daily shadowing opportunities. Having a strong educational background herself, Dr. Rabatin is an unparalleled advocate for improving healthcare for both the providers and the patients.

Dr. Rabatin's main research interests focus on function, development, and wellness of pediatric patients. The patient populations of interest are broad including patients with disability, typical development, traumatic brain injury and sports needs (general and adaptive). All these populations have need for physical activity to promote function, development and wellness. The long-term goal of her research is to determine evidence-based interventions with multidisciplinary teams including for example Pediatrics, Pediatric Orthopedics, PM&R and Anesthesia, to promote and support function, development and wellness of pediatric patients.
