Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Clumsiness or unsteadiness
  2. confusion
  3. depression


  1. Difficulty with breathing
  2. dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
  3. falling
  4. fast heartbeat
  5. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  6. skin rash
  7. swelling of the face
  8. trouble sleeping
  9. unusual excitement, nervousness, or irritability
  10. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Sleepiness or unusual drowsiness

Less common

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. abnormal or decreased touch sensation
  3. abnormal sensation of movement
  4. appetite disorder
  5. balance disorder
  6. binge eating
  7. bladder pain
  8. bloody or cloudy urine
  9. blurred vision
  10. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  11. change in hearing
  12. chest discomfort
  13. chills
  14. confusion about identity, place, and time
  15. constipation
  16. continuous ringing, buzzing, or other unexplained noise in the ears
  17. daytime drowsiness
  18. diarrhea
  19. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  20. difficulty with moving
  21. difficulty with swallowing
  22. discouragement
  23. double vision
  24. drugged feeling
  25. dry mouth
  26. earache
  27. eye redness
  28. false or unusual sense of well-being
  29. feeling of unreality
  30. feeling sad or empty
  31. frequent bowel movements
  32. frequent urge to urinate
  33. headache
  34. hearing loss
  35. heartburn
  36. hives or welts
  37. itching ears
  38. joint pain
  39. lack of appetite
  40. lack of feeling or emotion
  41. lack or loss of self-control
  42. lack or loss of strength
  43. longer or heavier menstrual periods
  44. loss of balance
  45. loss of interest or pleasure
  46. memory problems
  47. mood swings
  48. muscle aches, cramping, pain, or stiffness
  49. nausea
  50. nightmares or unusual dreams
  51. redness of the skin
  52. redness or soreness of the throat
  53. sense of detachment from self or body
  54. slowing of mental and physical activity
  55. sneezing
  56. stuffy or runny nose
  57. swollen joints
  58. tiredness
  59. trouble concentrating
  60. vision changes
  61. vomiting
