Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Clumsiness or unsteadiness
  2. confusion about identity, place, and time
  3. discouragement
  4. drugged feeling
  5. false or unusual sense of well-being
  6. feeling of unreality
  7. feeling sad or empty
  8. hives or welts
  9. irritability
  10. lack of appetite
  11. lack of feeling or emotion
  12. loss of interest or pleasure
  13. lack or loss of self-control
  14. memory problems
  15. mood swings
  16. nightmares or unusual dreams
  17. sense of detachment from self or body
  18. slowing of mental and physical activity
  19. tiredness
  20. trouble concentrating
  21. trouble sleeping

Rare

  1. Difficulty with breathing
  2. dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting
  3. falling
  4. fast heartbeat
  5. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  6. skin rash
  7. swelling of the face
  8. unusual excitement, nervousness, or irritability

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Sleepiness or unusual drowsiness

Less common

  1. Abnormal or decreased touch sensation
  2. abnormal sensation of movement
  3. appetite disorder
  4. balance disorder
  5. binge eating
  6. bladder pain
  7. bloody or cloudy urine
  8. blurred vision
  9. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  10. change in hearing
  11. chest discomfort
  12. chills
  13. constipation
  14. continuous ringing, buzzing, or other unexplained noise in the ears
  15. daytime drowsiness
  16. diarrhea
  17. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  18. difficulty with moving
  19. difficulty with swallowing
  20. double vision
  21. dry mouth
  22. earache
  23. eye redness
  24. frequent bowel movements
  25. frequent urge to urinate
  26. headache
  27. hearing loss
  28. heartburn
  29. itching ears
  30. joint pain
  31. lack of appetite
  32. lack or loss of strength
  33. longer or heavier menstrual periods
  34. loss of balance
  35. muscle aches, cramping, pain, or stiffness
  36. nausea
  37. redness of the skin
  38. redness or soreness of the throat
  39. sneezing
  40. stomach pain
  41. stuffy or runny nose
  42. swollen joints
  43. vision changes
  44. vomiting
