Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Rare

  1. Convulsions
  2. dizziness and fainting
  3. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  4. flushing or reddening of the skin
  5. increased sensitivity to sunlight
  6. itching, pain, redness, swelling, or watering of the eye or eyelid
  7. joint pain
  8. severe skin rash or hives
  9. shortness of breath or troubled breathing
  10. swelling or puffiness of the face
  11. swollen glands or tightness in the throat
  12. tightness in the chest or wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Change in hearing
  2. cough
  3. cough producing mucus
  4. diarrhea
  5. dizziness
  6. ear drainage
  7. ear, nose, and throat infections
  8. earache
  9. fever or chills
  10. headache
  11. nasal signs and symptoms
  12. nausea
  13. pain and pressure over cheeks
  14. pain in the ear
  15. shortness of breath
  16. vomiting

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
