Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. back or leg pains
  3. black, tarry stools
  4. bleeding gums
  5. blisters, hives, itching, skin rash
  6. bloating
  7. blood in the urine or stools
  8. blue lips and fingernails
  9. blurred vision
  10. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  11. chest pain or tightness
  12. chills
  13. clay-colored stools
  14. cloudy urine
  15. cold sweats
  16. coma
  17. confusion
  18. constipation
  19. cough or hoarseness
  20. coughing that sometimes produces a pink frothy sputum
  21. dark urine
  22. decreased urine output
  23. depression
  24. difficult, fast, or noisy breathing
  25. difficulty swallowing
  26. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from lying or sitting position
  27. drowsiness
  28. dry mouth
  29. fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat
  30. fever with or without chills
  31. flushed, dry skin
  32. fruit-like breath odor
  33. general body swelling
  34. general feeling of discomfort, illness, or weakness
  35. greatly decreased frequency of urination or amount of urine
  36. headache
  37. hostility
  38. incoherent speech
  39. increased hunger
  40. increased sweating
  41. increased thirst
  42. increased urination
  43. indigestion
  44. irritability
  45. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  46. lethargy
  47. loss of appetite
  48. loss of consciousness
  49. lower back or side pain
  50. metallic taste
  51. mood changes
  52. muscle pain, cramps, weakness, or twitching
  53. nausea or vomiting
  54. nervousness
  55. nosebleeds
  56. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  57. pain in the groin or genitals
  58. painful or difficult urination
  59. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  60. pale skin
  61. persistent non-healing sore
  62. pink growth
  63. pinpoint red or purple spots on the skin
  64. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  65. rapid weight gain
  66. reddish patch or irritated area
  67. seizures
  68. sharp back pain just below the ribs
  69. shiny bump
  70. sore throat
  71. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  72. stomachache
  73. stupor
  74. sugar in the urine
  75. swelling of the face, ankles, hands, feet, or lower legs
  76. swollen or painful glands
  77. thickening of bronchial secretions
  78. trouble breathing
  79. unexplained weight loss
  80. unpleasant breath odor
  81. unusual bleeding or bruising
  82. unusual tiredness or weakness
  83. vomiting of blood
  84. weak pulse
  85. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  86. white, yellow or waxy scar-like area
  87. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Face is warm or hot to touch
  2. frequent urination
  3. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  4. loss of strength or energy
  5. pain or weakness in the hands or feet
  6. redness to face
  7. reflexes are unusually strong
  8. trembling

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Incidence not known

  1. Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  2. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  3. inability to have or keep an erection
  4. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  5. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  6. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  7. sensation of spinning
  8. severe sunburn
  9. welts

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
