Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding from the rectum or bloody stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. blemishes on the skin
  4. blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  5. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet
  6. bloody nose
  7. blurred vision
  8. chest discomfort, pain, or tightness
  9. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
  10. coughing up blood
  11. decreased urine output
  12. diarrhea
  13. difficulty in moving
  14. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  15. dilated neck veins
  16. extreme tiredness or weakness
  17. fast, slow, irregular, or pounding heartbeat
  18. headache
  19. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  20. irregular breathing
  21. joint pain
  22. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  23. muscle aches, cramps, pain, or stiffness
  24. nervousness
  25. nosebleeds
  26. paralysis
  27. pimples
  28. pounding in the ears
  29. prolonged bleeding from cuts
  30. rapid weight gain
  31. rash
  32. red or black, tarry stools
  33. red or dark brown urine
  34. redness, swelling, or pain of the skin
  35. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  36. swelling of the hands, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  37. tingling of the hands and feet
  38. ulceration of the skin
  39. unusual tiredness or weakness
  40. unusual weight gain or loss

Less common

  1. Cough
  2. fever

Rare

  1. Change in vision
  2. seeing flashes or sparks of light
  3. seeing floating spots before the eyes, or a veil or curtain across part of your vision
  4. stomach cramps, pain, or tenderness
  5. watery or bloody diarrhea

Incidence not known

  1. Blistering, peeling, loosening of the skin
  2. chills
  3. itching
  4. red skin lesions, often with a purple center
  5. sore throat
  6. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on lips
  7. swollen glands
  8. unusual bleeding or bruising

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Acne, pimples
  2. burning, itching, and pain in hairy areas, pus at the root of the hair
  3. canker sores
  4. change in taste
  5. dark urine
  6. dry eyes
  7. dry mouth
  8. dry skin
  9. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  10. loosening of the fingernails
  11. loss of taste
  12. redness or soreness around the fingernails
  13. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or tongue or inside the mouth
  14. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  15. thirst
