Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common or rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach fullness
  2. abnormal or decreased touch sensation
  3. blisters under the skin
  4. bloating
  5. blood in the urine
  6. blood pressure increased
  7. blurred vision
  8. change in walking and balance
  9. chest pain or discomfort
  10. chills
  11. convulsions (seizures)
  12. darkened urine
  13. difficult urination
  14. dizziness or lightheadedness when getting up from a lying or sitting position
  15. fainting
  16. fast heartbeat
  17. frequent urge to urinate
  18. gaseous abdominal or stomach pain
  19. heart rate increased
  20. indigestion
  21. irregular heartbeat
  22. loss of memory
  23. numbness and tingling of the face, fingers, or toes
  24. numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the hands or feet
  25. pain in the arms, legs, or lower back, especially pain in the calves or heels upon exertion
  26. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  27. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  28. pale bluish-colored or cold hands or feet
  29. recurrent fever
  30. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  31. severe cramping
  32. severe nausea
  33. severe redness, swelling, and itching of the skin
  34. shortness of breath
  35. sweats
  36. trembling and shaking of the hands or feet
  37. trouble performing routine tasks
  38. weak or absent pulses in the legs
  39. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Change in consciousness
  2. decreased awareness or responsiveness
  3. difficulty with breathing
  4. lack of muscle tone
  5. lightheadedness
  6. loss of consciousness
  7. pinpointed pupils of the eyes
  8. severe sleepiness
  9. shortness of breath
  10. slow or irregular heartbeat
  11. unusual tiredness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. agitation
  3. anxiety
  4. constipation
  5. cough
  6. diarrhea
  7. discouragement
  8. drowsiness
  9. dry mouth
  10. feeling of warmth
  11. feeling sad or empty
  12. feeling unusually cold
  13. fever
  14. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  15. headache
  16. heartburn
  17. irritability
  18. itching of the skin
  19. joint pain
  20. loss of appetite
  21. loss of interest or pleasure
  22. loss of strength or weakness
  23. muscle aches and pains
  24. nausea
  25. nervousness
  26. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  27. restlessness
  28. runny nose
  29. shivering
  30. skin rash
  31. sleepiness or unusual drowsiness
  32. sore throat
  33. stuffy nose
  34. sweating
  35. tiredness
  36. trouble concentrating
  37. unusual feeling of excitement
  38. weakness

Less common or rare

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. appetite decreased
  3. back pain
  4. bladder pain
  5. blistering, crusting, irritation, itching, or reddening of the skin
  6. bloody or cloudy urine
  7. body aches or pain
  8. change in hearing
  9. clamminess
  10. cold flu-like symptoms
  11. confusion
  12. cough producing mucus
  13. cracked, dry, or scaly skin
  14. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  15. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  16. difficulty with moving
  17. disturbance in attention
  18. ear congestion
  19. ear drainage
  20. earache or pain in ear
  21. excessive gas
  22. fall
  23. false or unusual sense of well-being
  24. feeling hot
  25. feeling jittery
  26. flushing or redness of the skin
  27. general feeling of bodily discomfort
  28. goosebumps
  29. headache, severe and throbbing
  30. hoarseness
  31. hot flashes
  32. inability to have or keep an erection
  33. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  34. joint sprain
  35. joint stiffness
  36. joint swelling
  37. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  38. loss of voice
  39. lower back or side pain
  40. muscle aching or cramping
  41. muscle injury
  42. muscle pain or stiffness
  43. muscle spasms or twitching
  44. nasal congestion
  45. neck pain
  46. night sweats
  47. pain
  48. pain in the limbs
  49. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  50. pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
  51. skin discoloration
  52. swelling
  53. swelling of the hands, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  54. tightness of the chest
  55. trouble in holding or releasing urine
  56. trouble with sleeping
  57. troubled breathing
  58. weight increased or decreased

After you stop using this medicine, it may still produce some side effects that need attention. During this period of time, check with your doctor immediately if you notice the following side effects:
