Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor as soon as possible if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common or rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach pains
  2. aching muscles and joints
  3. blurred vision, change in color vision, or difficulty in seeing at night
  4. confusion (especially in the elderly)
  5. convulsions (seizures)
  6. difficulty in speaking or swallowing
  7. fast heartbeat
  8. fever and chills
  9. inability to move eyes
  10. lip smacking or puckering
  11. loss of balance control
  12. mask-like face
  13. muscle spasms (especially of face, neck, and back)
  14. nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea
  15. nightmares (continuing)
  16. nosebleeds
  17. puffing of cheeks
  18. rapid or fine, worm-like movements of tongue
  19. shuffling walk
  20. skin itching (severe)
  21. sore throat and fever
  22. stiffness of arms or legs
  23. swelling of arms, hands, and face
  24. tic-like or twitching movements
  25. trembling and shaking of hands and fingers
  26. twisting movements of body
  27. uncontrolled chewing movements
  28. uncontrolled movements of arms or legs
  29. unusual bleeding or bruising
  30. unusual excitement, nervousness, restlessness, or irritability
  31. unusual tiredness or weakness
  32. weakness of arms and legs
  33. yellow eyes or skin

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Confusion (severe)
  2. convulsions (seizures)
  3. dizziness (severe)
  4. drowsiness (severe)
  5. dry mouth (severe)
  6. hyperextension of neck and trunk
  7. inability to move eyes
  8. loss of consciousness
  9. spasms of face and neck
  10. stuffy nose
  11. troubled breathing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Dizziness
  2. drowsiness

Less common or rare

  1. Constipation
  2. dizziness or lightheadedness, especially when getting up from a lying or sitting position
  3. dryness of mouth, nose and throat
  4. fainting
  5. fever
  6. headache
  7. ringing or buzzing in ears
  8. skin rash

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
