Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bedwetting
  2. sleep walking

Less common

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  2. changes in behavior
  3. choking or gasping sounds
  4. daytime sleepiness or tiredness
  5. headache
  6. lack of appetite
  7. loud or frequent snoring
  8. rapid weight gain
  9. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  10. thoughts of killing oneself
  11. trouble sleeping
  12. unusual weight gain or loss
  13. waking to urinate at night

Incidence not known

  1. Being forgetful
  2. blurred vision
  3. decrease in the amount of urine
  4. dizziness
  5. fever
  6. hives, itching, skin rash
  7. hoarseness
  8. increase urge to urinate at night
  9. irritation
  10. joint pain, stiffness, or swelling
  11. nervousness
  12. noisy, rattling breathing
  13. pounding in the ears
  14. redness of the skin
  15. swelling of the face, fingers, hands, feet, or lower legs
  16. tightness in the chest
  17. trouble breathing or swallowing
  18. weight gain

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Agitation
  2. bluish lips or skin, not breathing
  3. chest pain or discomfort
  4. clumsiness
  5. confusional, agitated combative state
  6. drowsiness
  7. generalized slowing of mental and physical activity
  8. inability to hold bowel movement or urine
  9. increased sweating
  10. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  11. loss of consciousness
  12. muscle aches or weakness
  13. seizures
  14. shakiness and unsteady walk
  15. shivering
  16. slow or irregular heartbeat
  17. trembling or other problems with muscle control or coordination
  18. unusual tiredness or weakness
  19. weak or feeble pulse

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea
  2. difficulty passing urine (dribbling)
  3. increased frequency, urgency, or burning on urination
  4. increased sweating
  5. nausea
  6. vomiting

Less common

  1. Dry mouth

Incidence not known

  1. Difficulty with moving
