Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:


  1. Dark-colored urine
  2. fever
  3. muscle cramps or spasms
  4. muscle pain, stiffness, tenderness, wasting, or weakness
  5. unusual tiredness or weakness

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach pain
  2. clay-colored stools
  3. skin rash
  4. unpleasant breath odor
  5. vomiting of blood
  6. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. congestion
  3. cough
  4. difficulty with moving
  5. dry or sore throat
  6. headache
  7. hoarseness
  8. pain in the joints
  9. runny nose
  10. tender, swollen glands in the neck
  11. trouble swallowing
  12. voice changes

Less common

  1. Accidental injury
  2. accumulation of pus, swollen, red, or tender area of infection near a tooth
  3. acid or sour stomach
  4. arm, back, or jaw pain
  5. belching
  6. bladder pain
  7. bloated or full feeling
  8. bloody or cloudy urine
  9. blurred vision
  10. burning feeling in the chest or stomach
  11. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  12. chest pain or discomfort
  13. chest tightness or heaviness
  14. chills
  15. constipation
  16. depression
  17. diarrhea
  18. difficult or labored breathing
  19. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  20. discouragement
  21. dizziness
  22. dry mouth
  23. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  24. excessive muscle tone
  25. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  26. fear
  27. feeling faint
  28. feeling of constant movement of self or surroundings
  29. feeling of warmth or heat
  30. feeling sad or empty
  31. flushed, dry skin
  32. flushing or redness of the skin especially on the face and neck
  33. fruit-like breath odor
  34. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  35. heartburn
  36. increased hunger
  37. increased thirst
  38. increased urination
  39. irritability
  40. itching skin
  41. lack of appetite
  42. lack or loss of strength
  43. lightheadedness
  44. loss of appetite
  45. loss of consciousness
  46. loss of interest or pleasure
  47. muscle tension or tightness
  48. nausea
  49. neck pain
  50. nerve pain
  51. nervousness
  52. pain or swelling in the arms or legs without any injury
  53. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  54. pain, swelling, or redness in the joints
  55. pale skin
  56. passing gas
  57. pounding in the ears
  58. sensation of spinning
  59. shivering
  60. slow heartbeat
  61. sneezing
  62. stomach pain, discomfort, tenderness, or upset
  63. stuffy nose
  64. sweating
  65. swelling of the hands, ankles, feet, or lower legs
  66. trouble concentrating
  67. trouble sleeping
  68. unexplained weight loss
  69. unusual bleeding or bruising
  70. vomiting
