Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Bluish lips or skin
  2. chills
  3. clay-colored stools
  4. cold sweats
  5. confusion
  6. cough
  7. dark urine
  8. decrease in the frequency of urination
  9. decrease in the urine volume
  10. diarrhea
  11. difficult or troubled breathing
  12. difficulty in passing urine (dribbling)
  13. dizziness
  14. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up from lying or sitting position
  15. fast, pounding, or irregular heartbeat or pulse
  16. feeling of warmth
  17. fever
  18. headache
  19. high fever
  20. hives or welts, itching, or rash
  21. increased sweating
  22. irregular, fast or slow, or shallow breathing
  23. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  24. loss of appetite
  25. loss of bladder control
  26. nausea
  27. noisy breathing
  28. not breathing
  29. painful urination
  30. pale or blue lips, fingernails, or skin
  31. rectal bleeding
  32. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, upper chest
  33. redness of the skin
  34. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  35. seizures
  36. severe muscle stiffness
  37. shakiness in the legs, arms, or hands
  38. stomach pain
  39. sweating
  40. tightness in the chest
  41. tiredness
  42. trembling or shaking of the hands or feet
  43. unpleasant breath odor
  44. unusual tiredness or weakness
  45. unusually pale skin
  46. vomiting of blood
  47. yellow eyes or skin

Get emergency help immediately if any of the following symptoms of overdose occur:

Symptoms of overdose

  1. Cold, clammy skin
  2. dry mouth
  3. fainting
  4. no blood pressure or pulse
  5. no muscle tone or movement
  6. pinpoint pupils (black part of the eye)
  7. stopping of the heart
  8. unconsciousness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Bad dreams
  2. blurred or loss of vision
  3. confusion as to time, place, or person
  4. continuing ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  5. difficulty having a bowel movement
  6. disturbed color perception
  7. double vision
  8. drowsiness
  9. false or unusual sense of well-being
  10. halos around lights
  11. hearing loss
  12. holding false beliefs that cannot be changed by fact
  13. increased sensitivity of the skin to sunlight
  14. night blindness
  15. overbright appearance of lights
  16. redness or other discoloration of the skin
  17. relaxed and calm feeling
  18. severe sunburn
  19. sleepiness
  20. trouble sleeping
  21. tunnel vision
  22. unusual excitement, nervousness, or restlessness
  23. vomiting

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
