Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, especially when standing up suddenly from a sitting/lying position
  2. drowsiness
  3. nausea
  4. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  5. trouble sleeping
  6. twitching, twisting, or other unusual body movements
  7. unusual tiredness or weakness

Less common

  1. Chest tightness
  2. confusion
  3. cough
  4. difficulty with swallowing
  5. double vision or other changes in vision
  6. falling asleep without warning
  7. fearfulness, suspiciousness, or other mental changes
  8. fever
  9. frequent urination
  10. memory loss
  11. muscle or joint pain
  12. muscle weakness
  13. restlessness or need to keep moving
  14. swelling of the body
  15. trouble breathing
  16. writhing, twisting, or other unusual body movements

Rare

  1. Abnormal thinking
  2. anxiety
  3. bloody or cloudy urine
  4. chest pain
  5. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  6. dizziness
  7. frequent urge to urinate
  8. loss of bladder control
  9. swelling of the arms or legs

Incidence not known

  1. Discouragement
  2. feeling sad or empty
  3. lack of appetite
  4. lack of feeling or emotion
  5. loss of interest or pleasure
  6. sweating
  7. trouble concentrating
  8. uncaring

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Constipation
  2. dryness of the mouth
  3. headache
  4. heartburn, indigestion, or acid stomach

Less common

  1. Abnormal dreams
  2. decreased sexual drive or ability
  3. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  4. increased cough
  5. increased sweating
  6. joint pain
  7. loss of appetite
  8. runny nose
  9. skin rash, itching
  10. weight loss

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
