Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Chills

Less common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. cough
  3. difficulty with breathing
  4. ear congestion
  5. fever
  6. headache
  7. loss of voice
  8. nasal congestion
  9. runny nose
  10. sneezing
  11. sore throat
  12. unusual tiredness or weakness

Rare

  1. Fever over 102.2 °F (39 °C)

Incidence not known

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. bleeding gums
  3. bloating or swelling of the face, arms, hands, lower legs, or feet blood in the urine or stools
  4. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  5. decreased movement of the legs
  6. difficulty with breathing or swallowing
  7. dizziness
  8. eye pain
  9. fast heartbeat
  10. feeling of discomfort
  11. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  12. headache
  13. hives
  14. inflammation of the joints
  15. itching, especially of the feet or hands
  16. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, or warmth on the skin
  17. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  18. muscle aches
  19. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  20. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  21. rapid weight gain
  22. rash
  23. shortness of breath
  24. swollen lymph glands
  25. swollen, painful, or tender lymph glands in the neck, armpit, or groin
  26. tightness in the chest
  27. tingling of the hands or feet
  28. reddening of the skin, especially around the ears
  29. swelling of the eyes, face, or inside of the nose
  30. unusual bleeding or bruising
  31. unusual tiredness or weakness (sudden and severe)
  32. unusual weight gain or loss
  33. wheezing

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty with moving
  2. lack or loss of strength
  3. muscle aching or cramping
  4. muscle pains or stiffness
  5. redness, soreness, hard lump, swelling, tenderness, or pain at the injection site
  6. swollen joints

Less common or rare

  1. Aches or pain in the joints or muscles
  2. fever of 101 °F (38.3 °C) or less
  3. swollen glands
  4. vague feeling of bodily discomfort

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
