Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Body aches or pain
  2. cough
  3. difficulty in breathing
  4. dryness or soreness of the throat
  5. fever
  6. headache
  7. loss of voice
  8. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  9. pain, redness, or swelling in the ear
  10. stomach pain
  11. stuffy or runny nose
  12. tender, swollen glands in neck
  13. trouble in swallowing
  14. unusual tiredness or weakness
  15. voice changes

Less common

  1. Bloody nose
  2. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  3. joint pain
  4. sweating

Rare

  1. Pus in the urine

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. anxiety
  3. attempts at killing oneself
  4. breathing problems
  5. confusion about identity, place, and time
  6. constipation
  7. fast, irregular, pounding, or racing heartbeat or pulse
  8. feeling sad or empty
  9. hives or welts
  10. indigestion
  11. itching, puffiness, or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  12. lack of appetite
  13. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly moving to the back
  14. redness of the skin
  15. shaking or trembling of the hands or feet
  16. trouble with concentrating
  17. unable to sleep
  18. unpleasant breath odor
  19. vomiting of blood
  20. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Diarrhea

Less common

  1. Acid or sour stomach
  2. belching
  3. blurred vision
  4. change in near or distance vision
  5. dental pain
  6. heartburn
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. pain
  9. skin rash, encrusted, scaly and oozing
  10. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain

Incidence not known

  1. Burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, “pins and needles”, or tingling feelings
  2. dreams that are unusual
  3. increased tendency to bleed
  4. large, flat, blue or purplish patches on the skin
  5. muscle aching or cramping
  6. sleepiness
  7. swollen joints
