Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common or rare

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps or pain (severe)
  2. anxiety
  3. back pain (severe)
  4. bloody, black, or tarry stools
  5. blue or pale skin
  6. bright red blood in the stool
  7. chest pain, possibly moving to the left arm, neck, or shoulder
  8. chills
  9. diarrhea (severe)
  10. fast heartbeat
  11. fever
  12. headache (severe)
  13. nausea or vomiting
  14. skin rash
  15. stomach cramps, tenderness, or pain
  16. swelling of the stomach
  17. unusual tiredness or weakness
  18. watery or bloody diarrhea
  19. yellow eyes or skin

Incidence not known

  1. Blood in the urine
  2. change in the frequency of urination or amount of urine
  3. cough
  4. dark-colored urine
  5. difficulty with breathing
  6. drowsiness
  7. general feeling of tiredness or weakness
  8. high fever
  9. increased thirst
  10. light-colored stools
  11. loss of appetite
  12. lower back or side pain
  13. painful or difficult urination
  14. pale skin
  15. sore throat
  16. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  17. stomach pain, continuing
  18. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  19. swollen glands
  20. troubled breathing
  21. unexplained or unusual bleeding or bruising
  22. weakness

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps or pain (mild)
  2. bloated or full feeling
  3. excess air or gas in the stomach or intestines
  4. gas or flatulence
  5. headache (mild)
  6. passing gas

Less common

  1. Acne
  2. diarrhea
  3. dizziness
  4. leg or joint pain
  5. loss of hair
  6. rectal pain or irritation
