Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Blurred vision
  2. chills
  3. cough
  4. cough-producing mucus
  5. diarrhea
  6. difficult or labored breathing
  7. dizziness
  8. fever
  9. general feeling of discomfort or illness
  10. headache
  11. joint pain
  12. loss of appetite
  13. muscle aches and pains
  14. nausea
  15. nervousness
  16. pounding in the ears
  17. runny nose
  18. seizures
  19. shivering
  20. slow or fast heartbeat
  21. sore throat
  22. sweating
  23. tightness in the chest
  24. trouble sleeping
  25. unusual tiredness or weakness
  26. vomiting

Less common

  1. Black, tarry stools
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. chest pain or discomfort
  4. headache, severe and throbbing
  5. hoarseness
  6. lightheadedness, dizziness, or fainting
  7. lower back or side pain
  8. painful or difficult urination
  9. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  10. swollen glands
  11. unusual bleeding or bruising

Incidence not known

  1. Agitation
  2. back pain
  3. change in size, shape, or color of existing mole
  4. confusion
  5. difficulty in moving
  6. difficulty in speaking
  7. double vision
  8. drowsiness
  9. epileptic seizure that will not stop
  10. hives, itching, skin rash
  11. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  12. inability to speak
  13. irritability
  14. joint stiffness or swelling
  15. loss of consciousness
  16. mole that leaks fluid or bleeds
  17. mood or mental changes
  18. muscle pain, cramps, or stiffness
  19. new mole
  20. redness of the skin
  21. seeing, hearing, or feeling things that are not there
  22. slow speech
  23. stiff neck
  24. swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, hands, or feet
  25. troubled swallowing
  26. weight loss
  27. yellow skin and eyes

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  2. stuffy nose

Less common

  1. Decreased weight
  2. depression
  3. eye pain
  4. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  5. itching in the genitals or other skin areas
  6. lack or loss of strength
  7. scaling
  8. stomach pain
  9. skin rash, encrusted, scaly, and oozing
