Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Incidence not known

  1. Abdominal or stomach cramps or pain
  2. acid or sour stomach
  3. anxiety
  4. backache
  5. belching
  6. blistering, peeling, or loosening of the skin
  7. bloating
  8. blurred vision
  9. breast tenderness, enlargement, pain, or discharge
  10. change in vaginal discharge
  11. changes in skin color
  12. changes in vision
  13. chest pain or discomfort
  14. chills
  15. clay-colored stools
  16. clear or bloody discharge from the nipple
  17. confusion
  18. constipation
  19. convulsions
  20. cough
  21. darkening of the urine
  22. diarrhea
  23. difficulty with breathing
  24. difficulty with swallowing
  25. dimpling of the breast skin
  26. dizziness or lightheadedness
  27. double vision
  28. fainting
  29. fast heartbeat
  30. fever
  31. fluid-filled skin blisters
  32. full or bloated feeling or pressure in the stomach
  33. headache
  34. headache, severe and throbbing
  35. heartburn
  36. indigestion
  37. inverted nipple
  38. irregular heartbeat
  39. itching of the vagina or genital area
  40. joint or muscle pain
  41. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or sex organs
  42. light-colored stools
  43. loss of appetite
  44. loss of bladder control
  45. lump in the breast or under the arm
  46. migraine headache
  47. mood or mental changes
  48. muscle cramps in the hands, arms, feet, legs, or face
  49. muscle spasm or jerking of all extremities
  50. nausea
  51. noisy breathing
  52. numbness and tingling around the mouth, fingertips, or feet
  53. pain during sexual intercourse
  54. pain in the ankles or knees
  55. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  56. pain or feeling of pressure in the pelvis
  57. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm, foot, or leg
  58. painful, red lumps under the skin, mostly on the legs
  59. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  60. persistent crusting or scaling of the nipple
  61. poor insight and judgment
  62. problems with memory or speech
  63. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  64. rash, hives, or itching
  65. red, irritated eyes
  66. redness or swelling of the breast
  67. sensitivity to the sun
  68. skin thinness
  69. sore on the skin of the breast that does not heal
  70. sore throat
  71. sores, ulcers, or white spots in the mouth or on the lips
  72. stomach discomfort, upset, or pain
  73. sudden loss of consciousness
  74. sudden shortness of breath or troubled breathing
  75. sweating
  76. swelling
  77. swelling of the abdominal or stomach area
  78. thick, white vaginal discharge with no odor or with a mild odor
  79. tightness in the chest
  80. tremor
  81. trouble recognizing objects
  82. trouble thinking and planning
  83. trouble walking
  84. unexpected or excess milk flow from the breasts
  85. unpleasant breath odor
  86. unusual tiredness or weakness
  87. unusually heavy or unexpected menstrual bleeding
  88. vaginal bleeding or spotting
  89. vomiting
  90. vomiting of blood
  91. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Back pain
  2. difficulty with moving
  3. muscle aches
  4. muscle pain or stiffness
  5. stuffy or runny nose

Incidence not known

  1. Decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  2. heavy bleeding
  3. hives or welts
  4. inability to have or keep an erection
  5. increased hair growth, especially on the face
  6. increased in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  7. increased interest in sexual intercourse
  8. irritability
  9. leg cramps
  10. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  11. loss of scalp hair
  12. mental depression
  13. mood disturbances
  14. patchy brown or dark brown discoloration of the skin
  15. redness of the skin
  16. twitching, uncontrolled movements of the tongue, lips, face, arms, or legs
  17. weight changes
