Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Absent, missed, or irregular menstrual periods
  2. anger
  3. anxiety
  4. breast discomfort, enlargement, fullness, pain, soreness, swelling, or tenderness
  5. chest pain or discomfort
  6. confusion about identity, place, and time
  7. cramps
  8. difficulty in speaking
  9. discouragement
  10. dizziness or lightheadedness
  11. double vision
  12. dry mouth
  13. fainting
  14. fast or pounding heartbeat
  15. feeling sad or empty
  16. headache
  17. headache, severe and throbbing
  18. heavy bleeding
  19. heavy non menstrual vaginal bleeding
  20. inability to move the arms, legs, or facial muscles
  21. inability to speak
  22. irregular heartbeat
  23. irritability
  24. lack of appetite
  25. longer or heavier menstrual periods
  26. loss of interest or pleasure
  27. lower stomach cramps or pain
  28. nausea
  29. nervousness
  30. nipple pain
  31. normal menstrual bleeding occurring earlier, possibly lasting longer than expected
  32. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  33. pain in the chest, groin, or legs, especially the calves
  34. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  35. painful or tender cysts or lumps in the breasts
  36. pelvic discomfort or pain
  37. restlessness
  38. shaking
  39. slurred speech
  40. stopping of menstrual bleeding
  41. sudden, severe weakness or numbness in the arm or leg
  42. sudden loss of coordination
  43. sweating
  44. thoughts of killing oneself changes in behavior
  45. tiredness
  46. trouble breathing
  47. trouble concentrating
  48. trouble sleeping
  49. unexpected or excess milk flow from the breasts
  50. unusually heavy or unexpected menstrual bleeding
  51. vaginal bleeding or spotting
  52. vision changes
  53. vomiting

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Blemishes on the skin
  2. decreased interest in sexual intercourse
  3. loss in sexual ability, desire, drive, or performance
  4. pimples
  5. weight increased
