Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

Less common

  1. Nausea
  2. stomach pain
  3. tingling, burning, numbness, and pain in the hands or feet
  4. vomiting

Rare

  1. Chills
  2. fever
  3. itching, skin rash
  4. seizures
  5. sore throat
  6. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  7. unusual bleeding and bruising
  8. unusual tiredness and weakness
  9. yellow skin and eyes

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. black, tarry stools
  3. bleeding gums
  4. blindness
  5. bloating
  6. blood in the urine or stools
  7. blue-yellow color blindness
  8. blurred vision
  9. change in the color of the eye
  10. chest pain
  11. clay colored stools
  12. cold sweats
  13. confusion
  14. constipation
  15. cool, pale skin
  16. cough
  17. dark urine
  18. decreased appetite
  19. decreased vision
  20. depression
  21. diarrhea
  22. difficulty with moving
  23. difficulty with swallowing
  24. dizziness
  25. dry eyes or mouth
  26. eye pain
  27. fast heartbeat
  28. fast, shallow breathing
  29. flushed, dry skin
  30. fruit-like breath odor
  31. general feeling of discomfort
  32. headache
  33. hives
  34. increased hunger
  35. increased thirst
  36. increased urination
  37. indigestion
  38. joint pain
  39. light-colored stools
  40. loss of appetite
  41. loss of consciousness
  42. muscle aching, cramping, or pain
  43. nightmares
  44. painful or difficult urination
  45. pains in the stomach, side, or abdomen, possibly radiating to the back
  46. pinpoint red spots on the skin
  47. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  48. right upper abdominal or stomach pain and fullness
  49. shakiness
  50. sleepiness
  51. slurred speech
  52. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips or in the mouth
  53. stomach ache or discomfort
  54. sweating
  55. swollen glands or joints
  56. tightness in the chest
  57. troubled breathing with exertion
  58. unexplained weight loss
  59. unsteadiness or awkwardness
  60. weakness in the arms, hands, legs, or feet

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Difficulty with sleeping
  2. irritability
  3. restlessness

Incidence not known

  1. Belching
  2. excess air or gas in the stomach or bowels
  3. feeling of fullness
  4. hair loss or thinning of the hair
  5. heartburn
  6. indigestion
  7. lack or loss of strength
  8. passing gas

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
