Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Application site reactions, including skin rash, pain, tingling, or burning sensation
  2. flu-like syndrome (body ache, headache, fever, with or without chills)
  3. itching skin

Less common or rare

  1. Blood in the urine
  2. cough
  3. dry, itching, or burning eyes
  4. eye pain
  5. headaches, including migraines
  6. increased sensitivity of the skin
  7. nasal congestion
  8. pain or tenderness around the eyes and cheekbones
  9. redness of the skin
  10. redness or swelling of the eyes
  11. skin rash other than at the application site
  12. sore throat
  13. tightness in the chest
  14. troubled breathing
  15. ulcers or sores on the skin, other than at the application site

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Burning skin
  2. dry skin
  3. scaly skin
  4. thickened skin
  5. tingling skin

Less common

  1. Acne
  2. back pain
  3. belching
  4. bleeding skin
  5. chest pain
  6. diarrhea
  7. heartburn
  8. indigestion
  9. joint pain
  10. lack or loss of strength
  11. loss or thinning of the hair
  12. muscle pain
  13. neck pain
  14. runny nose
  15. stomach upset or pain
