Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor or nurse immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Cough
  2. fever

Less common

  1. Back or side pain
  2. blurred vision
  3. chest tightness
  4. chills
  5. confusion
  6. difficult or labored breathing
  7. fast heartbeat
  8. hives
  9. itching, pain, redness, swelling, tenderness, blue discoloration, or warmth of the skin at the injection site
  10. nausea
  11. swelling of the foot or leg
  12. vomiting

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. burning, crawling, itching, numbness, prickling, "pins and needles", or tingling feelings
  3. chest pain
  4. cloudy or bloody urine
  5. difficulty with swallowing
  6. dizziness
  7. dizziness, fainting, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  8. headache
  9. itching, skin rash
  10. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  11. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  12. pains in the chest, groin, or legs, especially calves of the legs
  13. puffiness or swelling of the eyelids or around the eyes, face, lips, or tongue
  14. restlessness
  15. severe headaches of sudden onset
  16. sudden loss of coordination
  17. sudden onset of slurred speech
  18. sudden vision changes
  19. sweating
  20. tenderness, pain, swelling, warmth, skin discoloration, and prominent superficial veins over affected area
  21. trouble breathing
  22. unusual drowsiness, dullness, tiredness, weakness, or feeling of sluggishness
  23. vision problems

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

Less common

  1. Change in or loss of taste
  2. drowsiness
  3. feeling of warmth
  4. pain in the arms or legs
  5. redness of the face, neck, arms, and occasionally, the upper chest
  6. shaking

Other side effects not listed may also occur in some patients. If you notice any other effects, check with your healthcare professional.
