Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bladder pain
  2. bloody or cloudy urine
  3. decreased appetite
  4. diarrhea
  5. difficult, burning, or painful urination
  6. fast, shallow breathing
  7. frequent urge to urinate
  8. frequent urination
  9. general feeling of discomfort
  10. increased urge to urinate during the night
  11. increased volume of pale, dilute urine
  12. itching of the vagina or genitals
  13. itching, stinging, or redness of the vaginal area
  14. lower back or side pain
  15. muscle pain or cramping
  16. nausea
  17. sleepiness
  18. stomach discomfort
  19. thick, white vaginal discharge with mild or no odor
  20. unusual tiredness or weakness
  21. waking to urinate at night

Less common

  1. Dry mouth
  2. increased thirst

Incidence not known

  1. Anxiety
  2. blurred vision
  3. chills
  4. clay-colored stools
  5. cold sweats
  6. confusion
  7. cool, pale skin
  8. depression
  9. difficulty with swallowing
  10. dizziness
  11. dizziness, faintness, or lightheadedness when getting up suddenly from a lying or sitting position
  12. fast heartbeat
  13. fever
  14. headache
  15. hives, itching, skin rash
  16. increased hunger
  17. irregular heartbeat
  18. large, hive-like swelling on the face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, or genitals
  19. loss of appetite
  20. loss of consciousness
  21. nightmares
  22. numbness or tingling in the hands, feet, or lips
  23. pain in the skin around the penis
  24. pain, tenderness, redness, or swelling of the area between the anus and genitals
  25. reddening of the skin, especially around the ears
  26. redness, itching, or swelling of the penis
  27. seizures
  28. shakiness
  29. slurred speech
  30. stomach pain or tenderness
  31. sweating
  32. swelling of the eyes, face, or inside of the nose
  33. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  34. unpleasant breath odor
  35. vomiting
  36. vomiting of blood
  37. weakness or heaviness of the legs
  38. yellow eyes or skin

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

  1. Difficulty having a bowel movement
