Side Effects

Along with its needed effects, a medicine may cause some unwanted effects. Although not all of these side effects may occur, if they do occur they may need medical attention.

Check with your doctor immediately if any of the following side effects occur:

More common

  1. Bleeding gums
  2. bloody nose
  3. blurred vision
  4. chest tightness
  5. clay colored stools
  6. cloudy urine
  7. confusion
  8. constipation
  9. coughing up blood
  10. decreased urination
  11. depressed mood
  12. difficult or labored breathing
  13. difficulty with swallowing
  14. dizziness
  15. dry mouth
  16. dry skin and hair
  17. fainting
  18. feeling cold
  19. fever
  20. hair loss
  21. headache
  22. hoarseness or husky voice
  23. incoherent speech
  24. increased menstrual flow or vaginal bleeding
  25. increased urination
  26. itching skin or rash
  27. lightheadedness
  28. loss of appetite
  29. metallic taste
  30. muscle cramps, stiffness, or weakness
  31. nausea
  32. nervousness
  33. nosebleeds
  34. paralysis
  35. pounding in the ears
  36. rapid breathing
  37. red or black, tarry stools
  38. red or dark brown urine
  39. redness, swelling, or pain of the skin
  40. scaling of the skin on the hands and feet
  41. slow or fast heartbeat
  42. stomach pain or tenderness
  43. sunken eyes
  44. swelling of the feet or lower legs
  45. thirst
  46. tingling of the hands and feet
  47. ulceration of the skin
  48. unusual tiredness or weakness
  49. vomiting
  50. weight gain or loss
  51. wrinkled skin
  52. yellow eyes or skin

Less common

  1. Anxiety
  2. bleeding from the gums or nose
  3. bleeding from the rectum
  4. bloody, black or tarry stools
  5. change in vision
  6. chest pain or discomfort
  7. extreme drowsiness
  8. eye pain
  9. heartburn
  10. inability to speak
  11. indigestion
  12. numbness or tingling in the face, arms, hands, or legs
  13. pain in the chest, groin, or legs
  14. pain or discomfort in the arms, jaw, back, or neck
  15. pain, redness, or swelling in the arm or leg
  16. pale skin
  17. ringing in the ears
  18. seizures
  19. sensitivity to heat
  20. severe headaches of sudden onset
  21. severe stomach pain, cramping, or burning
  22. slurred speech
  23. sores, ulcers, or white spots on the lips, tongue, or inside the mouth
  24. sudden loss of coordination
  25. sudden onset of slurred speech
  26. sudden vision changes
  27. sweating
  28. temporary blindness
  29. trouble sleeping
  30. trouble speaking, thinking, or walking
  31. trouble breathing
  32. uncomfortable swelling around the anus
  33. unusual bleeding or bruising
  34. vomiting of material that looks like coffee grounds
  35. weakness in the arm or leg on one side of the body

Some side effects may occur that usually do not need medical attention. These side effects may go away during treatment as your body adjusts to the medicine. Also, your health care professional may be able to tell you about ways to prevent or reduce some of these side effects. Check with your health care professional if any of the following side effects continue or are bothersome or if you have any questions about them:

More common

  1. Belching
  2. change in taste
  3. cough
  4. cracked lips
  5. decreased appetite
  6. diarrhea
  7. difficulty with moving
  8. joint pain or swelling
  9. lack or loss of strength
  10. loss of taste
  11. muscle aches or pain
  12. pain in the arms or legs
  13. sore throat
  14. stomach discomfort or upset
  15. swelling or inflammation of the mouth
  16. upper stomach pain
  17. voice changes

Less common

  1. Burning sensation of the tongue
  2. continuous ringing or buzzing or other unexplained noise in the ears
  3. flushing or redness of the skin
  4. hearing loss
  5. thinning of the hair
  6. unusually warm skin
