Research

Mayo Clinic investigators are advancing research in soft tissue sarcomas, including rare tumors such as rhabdomyosarcoma. This is done through multidisciplinary programs spanning medical oncology, orthopedic oncology, radiation oncology and translational science. Researchers study sarcoma biology, biomarkers, innovative therapeutics, radiation strategies, clinical trials and functional outcomes following treatment. Their work aims to improve risk stratification, personalize therapy, enhance limb preservation and reconstruction techniques, and develop more effective treatments for patients with bone and soft tissue sarcomas. Cancer research is conducted in coordination with the Mayo Clinic Comprehensive Cancer Center.

In addition, Mayo Clinic is a member of the Children's Oncology Group, an international group of institutions dedicated to children's cancer research. Mayo Clinic also is a member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a nonprofit alliance of leading cancer centers dedicated to improving the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of cancer care. These memberships enable Mayo Clinic doctors to provide advanced diagnosis and treatment methods based on the latest research.
