Resources for physicians

Mail, fax, or send with the patient all pertinent records, including reports of blood tests, electrocardiograms, pulmonary function tests, and any other laboratory tests that may have a bearing on his or her problem.

Send by express service or with the patient the actual X-ray films of chest X-rays, CT scans, or other pertinent radiographic studies, as well as all pertinent biopsies, pathology reports and actual pathology slides.

These documents can be sent to the Pulmonary and Critical Care Division Appointment Office or directly to the Department of Pathology, Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN 55905.

Patients should bring all their medications with them at the time of their appointment.

  • The operator can contact the staff physician on-call for Pulmonary and Critical Care Division (or any other specialty that the referring physician needs).

Urgent/emergency transportation

  • 24 hours day/7 days a week
  • Call the Mayo Emergency Communications Center at 800-237-6822 to request Gold Cross (ground ambulance), Mayo One (helicopter ambulance), or Mayo MedAir (fixed-wing air ambulance).
