Clinical trials Below are current clinical trials.556 studies in Oncology (Medical) (open studies only). Filter this list of studies by location, status and more. A Study to Identify Biomarkers in the Blood, Saliva or Tissue for Oropharyngeal Squamous Cell Cancer Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to identify a biomarker (or biomarkers) that is present when disease is present (i.e., at diagnosis or recurrence) and not present when disease is absent (i.e., after treatment, in HPV negative patients or in normal controls). Care Processes and Person Centered Care of Patients with Neuroendocrine Tumors Rochester, Minn. Given that neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) represent a rare condition with complex treatment decisions and a lack of concrete guidance for physicians, shared-decision making (SDM) is particularly challenging. In an effort to improve PCC, we hope to identify care processes throughout the clinical encounter that are important to patients. Identifying these processes would allow for standardization of the care environment without focusing on specific provider characteristics. As such, changes to the institutional and system-level processes could be made in more actionable and systematic ways. NOLA (NeuWave Observational Liver Ablation) Registry Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to create a registry that follows patients for a total of 5 years from the date of the first liver ablation procedure with the NEUWAVE Microwave Ablation System. cfDNA Assay Prospective Observational Validation for Early Cancer Detection and Minimal Residual Disease (CAMPERR) Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this multicenter prospective observational case-control study is to train and validate Adela’s cfMeDIP-seq based methylome profiling platform to detect and differentiate multiple cancer subtypes. In addition, this study includes longitudinal follow-up for a subset of participants to train and validate the methylome profiling platform to detect minimal residual disease and recurrence. Testing Nivolumab and Ipilimumab With Short-Course Radiation in Advanced Rectal Cancer Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this trial is to investigate the effect of nivolumab and ipilimumab when given together with short-course radiation therapy in treating patients with rectal cancer that has spread to other places in the body (advanced). Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as nivolumab and ipilimumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Radiation therapy uses high energy x-rays to kill tumor cells and shrink tumors. Giving nivolumab, ipilimumab, and radiation therapy may kill more cancer cells. Spinal Cord Stimulation to Treat Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to understand pain outcomes in patients with cancer who have Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy (CIPN). Testing the Addition of Duvelisib or CC-486 to the Usual Treatment for Peripheral T-Cell Lymphoma Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effect of duvelisib or CC-486 and usual chemotherapy consisting of cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, etoposide, and prednisone in treating patients with peripheral T-cell lymphoma. Duvelisib may stop the growth of cancer cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Chemotherapy drugs, such as CC-486, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vincristine, etoposide and prednisone, work in different ways to stop the growth of cancer cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. This trial may help find out if this approach is better or worse than the usual approach for treating peripheral T-cell lymphoma. A Study to See if the Depth of Tumor Invasion of Esophageal Carcinoma Predicts Lymph Node Involvement and Cancer Free Survival Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to see if different depths of submucosal tumor invasion in esophageal cancer can predict lymph node involvement and survival. ALPN-202 With PD-1 Inhibition in Advanced Malignancies Rochester, Minn., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz., Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to evaluate ALPN-202 with PD-1 inhibition to treat adults with advanced solid tumors or lymphoma. De-Escalation of Breast Radiation Trial for Hormone Sensitive, HER-2 Negative, Oncotype Recurrence Score Less Than or Equal to 18 Breast Cancer (DEBRA) Mankato, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., La Crosse, Wis., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz., Albert Lea, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate whether breast conservation surgery and endocrine therapy results in a non-inferior rate of invasive or non-invasive ipsilateral breast tumor recurrence (IBTR) compared to breast conservation with breast radiation and endocrine therapy. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
