Clinical trials Below are current clinical trials.556 studies in Oncology (Medical) (open studies only). Filter this list of studies by location, status and more. A Study of Performing Surgery for Resectable Malignant Pleural Mesothelioma After Radiation Therapy Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to assess the possibility, safety, and therapeutic effect of administering a short, quick course of high-dose radiation treatment focused on half of the chest, followed by surgery to remove that portion of the lungs, in patients with malignant pleural mesothelioma. A Study of a New Way to Treat Children and Young Adults With a Brain Tumor Called NGGCT Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to monitor outcome to ensure that children and young adults with localized central nervous system (CNS) non-germinomatous germ cell tumors (NGGCT) treated with Induction chemotherapy followed by response evaluation and whole ventricular + spinal canal irradiation (WVSCI) will maintain the excellent 2-year progression free survival (PFS) rate as compared to ACNS0122. Also, to improve disease control by decreasing the number of spinal relapses for patients who achieve a complete response (CR) or partial response (PR) and receive WVSCI as compared to whole ventricular radiation on ACNS1123. Combination Treatment Therapy Approaches for the Treatment of High-Risk Multiple Myeloma, REACH Trial Rochester, Minn., Jacksonville, Fla., Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz. The purpose of this study is to estimate the rate of sustained MRD negativity (MRD negative status at any point, with a repeated MRD negative status one year later) in subjects with high-risk multiple myeloma. Ease Aromatase Inhibitor-induced Musculoskeletal Symptoms Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to analyze the impact of active participation of patients in producing tones in combination with breathing technique; i.e., TBT to reduce aromatase inhibitor induced musculoskeletal symptoms. Tonation Breathing Techniques (TBT) is a set of diverse, mostly non-strenuous, specialized breathing techniques with the addition of Tonation; i.e., controlled exhalation through nostrils or lips while producing and sustaining a constant sound frequency as is comfortable to the participant as instructed in Musopathy sessions and/or videos. A Study to Evaluate Outpatient Blinatumomab in Subjects with Minimal Residual Disease (MRD) of B-precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to determine the safety and feasibility of complete outpatient blinatumomab administration for subjects with minimal residual disease (MRD) of B-precursor Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Methylene Blue Mouthwash for Oral Mucositis Pain in Cancer Rochester, Minn. Evaluate the efficacy of methylene blue mouth wash for increasing oral intake and relieving pain in patients with oral mucositis related to cancer and/or cancer treatments. Oral intake will improve after six doses of methylene blue mouthwash compared to usual care. Usual care is defined as the institutional standard of care at the study site which includes magic mouthwash (lidocaine/diphenhydramine/Maalox) and sodium bicarbonate oral rinse. A Study to Assess Cisplatin and Combination Chemotherapy in Treating Children and Young Adults with Hepatoblastoma or Liver Cancer After Surgery Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine how well cisplatin and combination chemotherapy works in treating children and young adults with hepatoblastoma or liver cancer after surgery. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin, doxorubicin, fluorouracil, vincristine sulfate, carboplatin, etoposide, irinotecan, sorafenib, gemcitabine and oxaliplatin, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells, by stopping them from dividing, or by stopping them from spreading. Giving combination chemotherapy after surgery may kill more tumor cells. Long-Term Follow-Up of Patients Who Have Participated in Children's Oncology Group Studies Rochester, Minn. This clinical trial is studying long-term follow-up in patients who are or have participated in Children's Oncology Group studies. Developing a way to track patients enrolled in Children's Oncology Group studies will help doctors gather long-term follow-up information and may help the study of cancer in the future. Immune Response to Antigens Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to sequence patient germline and tumor samples, and nominate top neoantigen candidates using an in-house developed bioinformatics pipeline, and to validate the neoantigen candidates by laboratory assays using patient peripheral blood immune cells or serum. A Study to Validate DNA Methylation Markers for Universal and Site-specific Guided Cancer Detection Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to validate candidate universal and site-specific methylated DNA markers (MDMs) in DNA extracted from formalin-fixed paraffin embedded primary tumor and control specimens. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
