Fitness for Duty Exams Print Fitness for Duty exams are performed by physicians with expertise in occupational safety and health. Exams can be formally requested prior to an employee's return to work after a personal illness or when there safety concerns exist and a medical issue may be the cause. Our team's goal is to determine whether the employee is capable of safely performing all essential functions of the job. To request a Fitness for Duty examination, please contact Occupational Medicine and ask to speak to the program manager to discuss the issue and obtain paperwork to complete prior to the appointment. Fitness for Duty evaluations for physicians are conducted through the Physician Health Center.
