Many Mayo Clinic nurses also teach at these schools. These partnerships bring strong nursing students to Mayo Clinic. Each year, thousands of students come to Mayo Clinic to learn through hands-on training in different patient care settings. These partnerships also give Mayo Clinic the opportunity to try innovative ways of teaching. One example is the Dedicated Education Unit. In this program, nursing students learn by working alongside experienced nurses in real clinical settings. This hands-on approach helps students build their skills and learn what it's really like to be a nurse. It also increases job satisfaction for the Mayo Clinic nurses who teach them. Mayo Clinic partners with schools such as Arizona State University and the University of Minnesota Rochester. In the Midwest, some nurses with advanced degrees also teach classes for nursing schools. These efforts help create more effective and meaningful ways to prepare the next generation of nurses.
