Trifecta-Lung CfDNA-MMDx Study Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the relationship between dd-cfDNA levels and HLA antibodies in blood transplant recipient and Demonstrate the Molecular Microscope® (MMDx) Diagnostic System results in indication and protocol biopsies from lung transplants. A Study To Evaluate Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy To Treat Patients With Pancreatic Cancer And Peritoneal Metastasis Rochester, Minn. The primary purpose of this study is to assess short-term morbidity and disease-free survival outcomes for patients with pancreatic adenocarcinoma with limited low volume peritoneal metastasis or positive peritoneal cytology undergoing hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. Optimizing Rehabilitation Effect With Electrical Stimulation Therapy Rehab Jacksonville, Fla., Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of deep brain stimulation (DBS) of the dentate nucleus area for improving functional status in patients with moderate to severe residual upper-extremity motor impairment due to stroke. A Study To Create A Registry Of Non-Fusion Spinal Deformity Correction In Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Minneapolis, Minn., Rochester, Minn. The primary purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of non-fusion surgical treatment of Spinal Deformity Correction in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis. The Post Approval Study (PAS) is gathering data on the Tether device and it's efficacy and safety. Testing Docetaxel-Cetuximab Or The Addition Of An Immunotherapy Drug, Atezolizumab, To The Usual Chemotherapy And Radiation Therapy In High-Risk Head And Neck Cancer Rochester, Minn. This phase II/III trial studies how well radiation therapy works when given together with cisplatin, docetaxel, cetuximab, and/or atezolizumab after surgery in treating patients with high-risk stage III-IV head and neck cancer the begins in the thin, flat cells (squamous cell). Specialized radiation therapy that delivers a high dose of radiation directly to the tumor may kill more tumor cells and cause less damage to normal tissue. Drugs used in chemotherapy, such as cisplatin and docetaxel, work in different ways to stop the growth of tumor cells, either by killing the cells or by stopping them from dividing. Cetuximab is a monoclonal antibody that may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. Immunotherapy with monoclonal antibodies, such as atezolizumab, may help the body's immune system attack the cancer, and may interfere with the ability of tumor cells to grow and spread. The purpose of this study is to compare the usual treatment (radiation therapy with cisplatin chemotherapy) to using radiation therapy with docetaxel and cetuximab chemotherapy, and using the usual treatment plus an immunotherapy drug, atezolizumab. A Study Of Intravital Microscopy (IVM) In Human Solid Tumors Jacksonville, Fla. The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of performing HIVM in patients with deep space solid tumors during standard course of surgical resection. A Study to Evaluate Awake vs. Asleep Spine Surgery Jacksonville, Fla. Patients undergoing spine lumbar surgery will be asked to perform short exams/questionnaires aimed at determining cognitive function, quality of life, health outcomes twice post surgery with a baseline performance prior to surgery. A Study to Evaluate Manipulation Under Anesthesia After Bilateral Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to determine unique genetic profile of patients requiring MUA following bilateral pTKA via genetic sequencing, to determine outcomes of patients receiving MUA in terms of KSS, implant durability, survival free of reoperation, and to define characteristics and comorbidities of patients undergoing unilateral and bilateral MUA. A More Objective Way to Test Shoulder Strength Rochester, Minn. The purpose of this study is to provide a more objective way to measure strength than the current standard medical research council manual muscle testing. Unipedal Stance Time With Frailty Scores in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Patients Rochester, Minn. The objective of this study is to compare the unipedal stance time with serum albumin, 5-meter walk test and KATZ questionnaire findings as frailty scores in transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) patients. The patient comes first. So the mission and research here is to advance how we can best help the patient, how to make sure the patient comes first in care. So in many ways, it's a cycle. It can start with as simple as an idea worked on in a laboratory, brought to the patient bedside, and if everything goes right — and let's say it's helpful or beneficial — then brought on as a standard approach. And I think that is one of the unique characteristics of Mayo's approach to research — that patient-centeredness — that really helps to put it in its own spotlight.
