Healing Adventures Camp

Healing Adventures Camp is a free, one-day camp for children and teens, ages 5 to 17, who have experienced the death of someone special in their lives in the past three years. The camp is offered in the spring and fall of each year.

The purpose of the Healing Adventures Camp is to:

  • Provide a safe environment for campers to share their grief experience with peers
  • Help campers recognize they are not alone in their grief
  • Provide age-appropriate activities that are fun, while teaching campers healthy ways to express their emotions as they continue on their grief journeys

The day includes:

  • Nature walks
  • Music
  • Rock wall climbing
  • Crafts
  • Petting zoo
  • Group time

Youth campers divide into age-appropriate groups facilitated by trained adult volunteers. Campers are encouraged to share their memories, feelings and experiences related to the death of their loved ones and their grief journeys.

The camp offers parents and guardians an adult support session in the morning and asks that they participate in the closing activity with their youth.

The camp is led by Mayo Clinic Hospice staff, volunteers and Mayo Clinic employees.
