Komandoor Srivathsan, M.D.

I'm Komandoor Srivathsan. I'm one of the cardiologists here Mayo Clinic, Arizona.

The reason I became a heart rhythm specialist is because I saw my father die in front of my eyes at age 11-- a pretty traumatic event. This actually led to my interest in the field of sudden cardiac death, which in itself eventually led to the heart rhythm disorders. And that's the reason, mainly, why I chose this specialty.

My job involves treating irregular heart beats either with ablation or sometimes with pacemakers. The most important reason why I would like patients to come to Mayo Clinic and particularly see me is the advanced nature of the care that I can provide.

The other thing is to deliver it in a very human way. And that's what I would like my patients to remember. Even though he knows a lot of science, he delivers it in a very human way.
