Biographical summary
Kristin Garlanger, D.O., M.B.S., is an Assistant Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and is the current Chair of the PM&R Neurological Rehabilitation Division. She is board certified in Spinal Cord
Injury Medicine and is an indispensable member of the PM&R SCI Clinic. Having received awards in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Scientific Development, and Academic Research, Dr. Garlanger is both an excellent clinician and researcher.
Dr. Garlanger is constantly advancing the science in many forms, including as a teacher. She is one of the Core Faculty Members for the PM&R Residency Program. In addition to providing clinical guidance and weekly inpatient SCI teaching, she leads yearly Osteopathic Manual Medicine and Adaptive Athlete Didactics to the PM&R residents. She allows Residents and Fellows to shadow her daily, giving them valuable in-person education in their 2-3 year programs. She leads many courses and discussion groups for Human Anatomy, Osteopathy, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, Spinal Cord Injury, and
more.
As an expert in the SCI field, Dr. Garlanger is committed to promoting the health and wellness of individuals with spinal cord injuries. She does this by preventing and treating sport-related injuries, encouraging involvement in physical activity in persons with disabilities, and went so far as to develop the Adaptive Athlete Multidisciplinary Clinic.
