1. Knee Biologic Preservation: Functional and Clinical Outcome

   Rochester, Minn.

   The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the clinical and functional outcomes of patients undergoing biologic knee preservation surgery. Secondary purpose is to identify possible correlation between outcome and pre-operative radiological findings (i.e. bony abnormalities such as mal-alignment, size of cartilage defect).

2. A Study to Analyze the Amount of Antibiotic Absorbed into Tissues Comparing Two Different Modes of Administration

   Scottsdale/Phoenix, Ariz.

   This study aims to investigate whether administration of vancomycin intravenously via a Bier block, typically a method for providing regional anesthesia in the upper extremity, leads to higher soft tissue and bone antibiotic concentrations compared to routine intravenous administration.  Higher tissue concentrations could be desirable for prophylaxis in complex upper extremity reconstruction, or for treatment of difficult infections.

3. Early Outcomes of Volar Capsulodesis for the Treatment of Scapholunate Ligament Injury

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to:

   1. To provide a comprehensive review of Mayo Clinic’s experience with volar SLIL capsulodesis
   2. Investigate the relationships between patient risk factors and clinical variables with functional outcomes and patient satisfaction
   3. Determine rates of complication, revision surgeries and salvage for failure

4. A Study to Evaluate Manipulation Under Anesthesia After Bilateral Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to determine unique genetic profile of patients requiring MUA following bilateral pTKA via genetic sequencing, to determine outcomes of patients receiving MUA in terms of KSS, implant durability, survival free of reoperation, and to define characteristics and comorbidities of patients undergoing unilateral and bilateral MUA.

5. Study Comparing NOVOCART 3D and Microfracture Surgery for Treatment of Articular Knee Cartilage

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this research study is to gather information on the safety and effectiveness of Autologous Chondrocyte Transplantation system, Novocart® 3D, in comparison to standard microfracture treatment for injured knee.

    

    

6. A Study to Validate the Patient-Specific Functional Survey in Patients with Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to determine if the Patient-Specific Functional Survey (PSFS) is a valid and reliable measure to evaluate functional difficulties with carpal tunnel syndrome.

7. Transforaminal Lumbar Interbody Fusion (TLIF)

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the investigational treatment compared to the control, and obtain indication expansion for Infuse™ use in one and two level TLIFprocedures.

8. Detection of Infection in Arthroplasty

   Rochester, Minn.

   The purpose of this study is to determine the sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive values of molecular detection of microorganisms, detection of microbial proteins and antibodies against microorganisms, and inflammatory markers (e.g., leukocyte esterase, CRP) in synovial fluid for the diagnosis of prosthetic joint infection (PJI).

9. Genetic Analysis of Disorders of Fibrosis

   Rochester, Minn.

   The specific aim of this protocol is to identify microRNAs that are differentially expressed between diseased fibrotic tissue (dupuytrens disease and plantar fibromatosis) and normal fibrotic tissue.

10. A Study to Assess the Effect of Radial Deviation on the Pronated Grip

    Rochester, Minn.

    The purpose of this study is to describe a practical and reproducible radiographic view that can be used in the work-up of ulnocarpal impaction.
