Biographical summary
Dr. Castro Garcia is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon specializing in torso, breast, and craniofacial reconstruction. He earned his medical degree from the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosi in Mexico. He completed his general surgery residency at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in El Paso, Texas. Afterwards, he completed his Plastic Surgery Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. He then pursued a craniofacial fellowship at the Craniofacial Center in Dallas, Texas. He returned to Texas Tech in El Paso to become the founding Division Chief of Plastic Surgery. He played a key role in expanding patient access to complex reconstructive procedures within the community, laid the groundwork for establishing a burn center in partnership with Texas Tech and the El Paso County Hospital District, and was pivotal in launching a microvascular reconstructive program. Dr. Castro Garcia is also passionate about global health, and since 2016, he has been involved with LEAP, an organization that provides free medical and surgical care to underserved areas worldwide.
