Sarah Mohamedaly, M.D., M.P.H.

Sarah Mohamedaly, M.D., M.P.H., is a surgeon at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, specializing in complex hernias and abdominal wall reconstruction. She provides expert care for people with complex abdominal wall pathology using advanced open, minimally invasive, and robotic surgical techniques. Her clinical practice is centered on delivering individualized, patient-centered care designed to restore function, improve quality of life, and achieve durable outcomes.

Dr. Mohamedaly earned her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and completed her General Surgery residency at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). She subsequently completed fellowship training in Abdominal Wall Reconstruction at Columbia University. She also holds a Master of Public Health with a concentration in Community Health Sciences and Global Health from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

She serves as Vice Chair of Education for the Division of Metabolic and Abdominal Wall Reconstructive Surgery and Associate Program Director for the Minimally Invasive Surgery fellowship program, where she is dedicated to developing innovative, competency-based educational curricula and mentoring residents and fellows.

Dr. Mohamedaly’s research focuses on improving outcomes for people with abdominal wall disease through clinical outcomes research, quality improvement initiatives, and collaborative studies. She has presented her work at numerous regional and national surgical meetings and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications on hernia surgery and abdominal wall reconstruction.

Dr. Mohamedaly is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Surgeons, American Hernia Society, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). She has received multiple leadership and academic awards.
