Victoria Gomez, M.D.

Victoria Gómez, M.D., FASGE, D-ABOM, is Associate Professor of Medicine, serves as Program Director for the Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship program as well as Director of Bariatric Endoscopy at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. Dr. Gómez has prior experience as an Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine residency program at Mayo Clinic and is also currently the Belonging and Engagement Champion for the GI division at Mayo Clinic Florida. She previously served as an Associate Editor for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as well as Chair of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee for the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).

Dr. Gómez, M.D. has a focus and expertise in interventional endoscopy and bariatric endoscopy and is a diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine (ABOM). Dr. Gómez received her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where she graduated with Highest Honors and Alpha Omega Alpha distinction. She then completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Gastroenterology fellowship training at Mayo Clinic in Florida and Minnesota.

Dr. Gómez' expertise includes all areas of advanced endoscopy including diagnostic and staging of oncological diseases of the gastrointestinal and biliopancreatic tract. She has an interest in the management of chronic calcific pancreatitis and started the extracorporeal shockwave lithotripsy (ESWL) program in 2016. She also has an expertise in non-surgical weight loss therapies and management of obesity-related diseases and complications/issues following bariatric surgery. Given her expertise, she has travelled internationally as an invited speaker to many international conferences, meetings, including a prestigious endoscopy masters forum.
