Research

Mayo Clinic researchers are working to improve ileoanal anastomosis surgery. Studies cover a wide range of areas. These include pouch-related complications of the surgery, such as pouchitis, Crohn's disease of the pouch and Clostridioides difficile infection (CDI). Researchers also study preoperative risk factors linked to the pouch not working well enough after ileoanal anastomosis surgery. Other research looks at how body weight may affect ileoanal anastomosis surgery and the outcomes of laparoscopic ileoanal anastomosis.
