Research

Mayo Clinic has a long history of taking part in research that involves current and future implant technology and techniques. Researchers look at how to improve both the technology and surgical techniques. They work to expand the number of children and adults cochlear implants might help.

Research also focuses on cochlear implant procedures for one ear in people who have single-sided deafness. Research also focuses on saving natural hearing after cochlear implant surgery, including interoperative hearing monitoring. And research aims at making cochlear implants that send medicines to the inner ear.
