Data sources
Data is updated daily. Data is compiled from USAFacts, The COVID Tracking Project, the Minnesota Department of Health and Mayo Clinic patient data. As COVID-19 cases surge across the United States, it’s not uncommon to see delays or gaps in the raw numbers reported.
Glossary of terms
Average daily cases are the average number of new cases a day for the past seven days. This seven-day rolling average is calculated to smooth out fluctuations in daily case count reporting.
Fatality rate is the proportion of people who die of those who tested positive for COVID-19.
New cases are the number of COVID-19 cases reported in the previous 24 hours.
Positive test rate is the proportion of people who are tested and found to have a current
infection with the virus that causes COVID-19. The number of positive tests in a state is not equal to
the number of cases, as one person may be tested more than once.
Total cases are the cumulative number of cases in any given area, including probable cases and cases confirmed by testing.
Incomplete data
The most recent data reported in this location doesn't meet Mayo Clinic data standards. There are a range of reasons for this designation, including:
- No data reported
- An unusually small number of data reported
- An unusually high number of data reported, due to backlogs in reporting from the previous day
Data is updated every day. As COVID-19 cases surge across the United States, it's not uncommon to see delays or gaps in the raw numbers reported.
