Biographical summary
Dr. Janet Vittone is an assistant professor of medicine at Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and a consultant in General Internal Medicine at Mayo Clinic Rochester. She specializes in Geriatric Medicine and Executive Health.
Upon joining Mayo Clinic Rochester in 1994, Dr. Vittone initiated a senior healthcare program for residents at Charter House, a continuous care retirement community. She served as medical director at Charter
House and conducted home visits for her patients in Rochester, Minnesota.
Over the past 32 years, Dr. Vittone has taught medical students at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and mentored many who have gone on to practice at Mayo Clinic, Harvard, and University of Chicago.
Dr. Vittone has received the Karis award for compassionate patient care and is a fellow of the American College of Physicians. She has consistently ranked in the top 95% likelihood of being recommended as a
healthcare provider.
She earned her medical degree from Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. She completed her internal medicine residency and fellowship in geriatric medicine at Johns Hopkins. Her research includes publications on hormone replacement in the elderly, sarcopenia (muscle loss with aging), and the benefits of exercise.
