Biographical summary
Christopher F. Viozzi, D.D.S., M.D., is an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon with specific clinical interests and expertise in:
- Cleft lip and palate surgery including alveolar cleft grafting, cleft orthognathic surgery, and distraction osteogenesis
- Surgery for obstructive sleep apnea including maxillomandibular advancement
- Complex orthognathic surgery
- Distraction osteogenesis
- Virtual surgical planning for complex orthognathic and craniofacial surgery
- Temporomandibular joint reconstruction (total joint reconstruction of the TMJ)
In addition to his clinical activities, Dr. Viozzi is active in surgical education and clinical research. He routinely provides mentorship to Oral and Maxillofacial surgery residents as well as residents from other surgical disciplines. He also travels internationally on medical mission trips to care for underserved children with cleft lip and palate deformities.
He is active in the specialty on a national level, including as a Section Chair of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, and as Chair of the AAOMS Obstructive Sleep Apnea Clinical Interest Group. He has acted as an Accreditation Site Visitor evaluating other OMS residency programs in the United States.
Dr. Viozzi has published numerous scientific manuscripts on a multitude of topics pertaining to Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. He has also authored multiple text book chapters.
